  1. volleyball is great fun!i love it, If you want to go out, got out, and hey, if you don't like it, you can always not play next year!

  2. before u try out u should go to some camps and see if u like it. if u do give it a shot if u dont make it u always have dance

    dont worry

  3. absolutely

  4. im gonna be a junior and im gonna try it for the first time too.

  5. yes because you may make it but if you don't play and try again next year.

  6. Yeah! It is fun and maybe you should go to a volleyball camp this summer to learn the basics.

  7. YES!!! I never used to know how to play volleyball until i tried out and it was the best thing for me! I started in 7th grade and I am still playing today in High School. Its such a great way to stay in shape and I really really love it! You should go for it.. You never know what your good at until you try something new!

  8. YUP defintly,

i know some coaches that hold a tryout and doesnt cut anyone from it. but in the tryouts its really, really, reallly tiring but after the tryouts or firstweek it's not tiring anymore. the coaches just want to see if u can make a conminment or not. so go for the tryouts and first weeks.also i suggest u practice now, and look at the rules and memorize it, and look at the form and stance of the volleyball games. and also ask ur mom or grandma to teach u now.try buying a volleyball and practice serving in ur backyard or frontyard or something. and practice throwing the ball in air and hitting it. ^^

    good luck =)

    hope i helped!

    and go for cheerleading ^^.

  9. Don't worry about your lack of experience... if you dance, you're already used to long practices and performing in front of others, not to mention the athletics involved.

At the freshman level, it's not likely anyone else trying out will have more than a couple years' worth of experience.  As long as you know the rules of the game and have the desire, there's no reason not to try out.  If you make the team, I'm sure you'll share the same love of the game your mom and aunt had.  If not?  You won't wonder or regret that you didn't try, and there are always recreational leagues looking for players to improve your skills if you'd want to try again as a sophomore.

  10. You should definitely try out. Make sure that you don't just show up & not know anything though. I'm sure your mom would love to have you ask her what there is to know.

  11. definetly!!! What can you lose???

  12. hey try out i thought it was fun and easy way to get excercise

  13. aehanrahan  made a lot of great points and I don't have much to add - mostly just encouragement.  I have coached a few girls that have switched to volleyball from a dance or gymnastics back ground.  In most cases the In most cases the balance, grace and movement from dance and gymnastics transfers very well to the movements you have to make in volleyball.

Approach it with a sense of adventure and with an intent to have fun rather than a I have to make it or I will be crushed attitude and it will be a positive experiance whether you make it or not.

One final agreement with aehanrahan.  I know as a coach when a player has basic athletic ability, if they have a great attitude, a desire to learn and a willingness to be coached, I will find a way to get them on my team.

  14. YES!I play volleyball and I love it!You are in the same situation as my friend. She is also a dancer.Of course you try out and try your best. You don't need to feel dumb at all..go for it!

  15. I have been coaching volleyball for many years & the last 4 years, I coached a Freshman team.  Most of the girls I had on my teams had never played before.

If you have the desire to try, then try!  If you are athletic at all, (you are a dancer) then you will be fine with volleyball!

If you want, you can try to find a camp at a local college or park & rec.  See if your high school is offering a camp too.  (Some do.)  They might also be doing summer conditioning & open gyms.  That would be a good way to get to know the coaches & show them that you're committed & want to learn.  You can also meet the other girls.  (I will bet you that there will be others that haven't palyed before either.)

The team I had last season had 8 girls & only 3 of them had played in 8th grade.  They all did really well & learned a lot.  Most of them are coming back to play as sophomores.

    Have fun & good luck!!

  16. Not unless you  are athletic.

  17. Try-out I'm gonna be a freshman too but I also fell in love with the game in 7th grade but I'm still not that good. But if you wanna try go for it.

  18. Yes

  19. go for it .............if you wanna do it....go right ahead

  20. The wise old man inside of me wants to say that it never hurts to try--other people's opinions be damned.  But I'm actually only 29, so I still remember what it was like in high school and I think I understand what is going through your head.  How about this?  Instead of asking us, ask the *coach*.  Whether or not you are going to feel dumb depends on the quality of the other players trying out.  If they are all experienced players, then you might look kind of foolish.  Who knows?  There might be other inexperienced people trying out too.  In that case, you probably wouldn't look bad.  The only person who would be able to predict that is the coach.  Maybe he tells you to try out and it turns out everyone one else is really good.  In that case, there is no reason to feel bad because it was the *coach* who invited you to try out....

  21. totaly. u should practice at home tosee if you like it
