I've no computer background but i want enter into software field.is it compulsory to learn c as basic language

according to present software field what do thay expect.if i've to learn java r .net shud i learn c r c ? r can i learn them directly?

  1. C, C++ and Java are essential languages to nearly all modern programmers.  


  2. C is one of the best languages to start up,because it will help you understand all basics of programming.People also recommend perl and python but i'v done only some basic python so I can't say much abt that

  3. C isn't a requirement, but having at least a working knowledge of C, C++ or Java likely is. Those three probably account for the vast majority of development going on currently.

  4. Depends on what kind of programming you plan to do.  The Internet uses java (which is C based) and .net.  Everything else uses C.  Plus many other Internet programs (like Pearl) are C based.

    If you ONLY plan to code for the Internet, you may not need C.  But it will greatly limit your effectiveness and jobs.

    If you already know java, then you could probably teach yourself the fundamentals of C within a few days with a good C programming book. (Look on Bit Torrent).
