Question:

I've noticed that none of the adidas soccer jerseys in the olympics have three stripes.

is there some reason that none of the jerseys have three stripes? neither the men's jerseys or the ladies' jerseys haves three stripes. does anyone know why this is? is there some sort of restriction cuz its in china? or has adidas just changed thier jerseys?

The Olympics doesnt allow a great amount of sponsorship on the Uniforms, cos unlike Club or International football, sponsorships arent really a part of Olympic sport...So therefore I would think the 3 stripes that Adidas uniforms usually have on them, are considered a form of advertising on the shirt, and has been disallowed...


  2. yes, thats true. adidas had to remove the 3 stripes coz the other sponsors complained (nike, reebok, puma). seems the olympics comm hav this rule ag. logos that are > 20 cms. the "3 stripes" was considered a logo altho adidas claimed its part of the shirt design but they were overruled.

    ps. i saw italy v honduras and thought the world champs deserve a better kit (for the Olympics at least) than what puma usually comes up with. their kit looks a lil shabby. no offence, just my honest opi.
