It's for some work people and they all seem happy enough if I want to cancel but happy enough to come if it pours.

  1. Showers disappearing in the afternnon across all eastern england.

l would have it,the english are strange folk and they will all turn up even if it rains as they will feel guilty in case no-one came.

You should have bought/hired a easily installed thin canvas cover.

The best fun is to be had when it rains at a garden party as it seems to lift everyones mood and they get pissed and joke around more

  2. a tent? not a camping one but a small party one. ask around to people who have hosted big parties recently they might have one.

  3. you should find out what time the rain is going to fall, if it's like 4:00 you should make the BBQ at 12:00. You can fit in the times. or if it seems like a clear sky, there's going to be no rain. If the clouds are dark and approaching you, it's going to rain. Besides it might not rain that long, it could be like 10 minutes. just cover up everything, go inside the house and wait it out, if it doesn't clear up, reschedule it or cancel it or go to somebody else's house!

  4. h**l No!!!! I wouldnt get a gazebo or something. A few years ago we used a bit waterproof sheet. Still had a fab time. Who cares when your drunk? Wet t'shirt comps. the men will love it.

  5. You never know what the weather is going to do - IF it rains, move the party indoors.  If it's not supposed to rain too hard, there's always the option of putting up tarps to cover the area.

  6. Just cook all the food inside in the grill and have a "grill" instead!

  7. Having it pour down when your in the middle of a BBQ is all part of the fun! Everyone piling into the house and saving the burnt chicken - who could have more fun?!

You'll kick yourself tomorrow if it doesn't rain!

  8. " No just tell everyone to bring umbrellas , it will be a new experience for you all to have a outdoor umbrella BBQ , and one i am sure you will all laugh about for years to come , do not the weather put you off having a good time with friends "

  9. If it rains during the BBQ, it will be canceled since your house is too small for so many people.

Where I live, if rain is in the forecast -- even if it barely rains,or "spits" as I call it -- the air is humid, heavy, muggy and hot.  Rain or no rain, if it's in the forecast, you may want to go ahead and cancel.  You have all summer to plan another one.

  10. rather that than no one turn up

  11. have the bbq, if it ends up not raining you'll be ticked. do you have a garage? move it to there.

  12. And where is my invite exactly ??

    I thought we were friends.

  13. have an indoor party instead

  14. no just get a cover thingy ? you know one of them things you can put up above your head ? like a canopy thing ?or have an indoor party instead ;] dont let rain ruin your fun ;d x

  15. Is there not a way you could provide shaded area? Like those canopies you can rent and set up?

  16. i would just get something that i can place the bbq under and cook the stuff outside and then let people just stay around the house. if theres loads of people i might cancel but if its just a few people, id still go ahead with it. a bit of rain never hurt anyone!

  17. Do you have a garage?  If so, tidy it up, move the cars/big stuff out and decorate.  Put the grill just outside the garage and provide the grill person with a big umbrella.

I once attended a wedding reception that was held in the double garage and on the driveway.  It was simple, but really fun.
