Question:

I've "won" the irish lottery. I'm sure it's a scam as I either must go to Ireland to get my $ or pay

Since the check's made out for the exact amount I won they're saying I must pay a courier to deliver the money. Does this make any sense or as I suspect this is a ripoff? If this was for real even internationally can't money be wired into my bank in new jersey?

  1. that is a scam there are so many lotteries saying you won etc. they just want your money it's a scam for sure if you really won they can just put it in your account .how much did you win anyway and how much should u pay the courier

  2. Did you submit any  tickets for the irish lottery?

    No?

Well, its a scam in that case - why would they charge you a courier fee, when they could deduct it from your winnings.

  3. You are correct, this is a SCAM.  The below links confirm various email scams hitting the internet, including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scams.  There is also an online form for the reporting of such.  (with links for your own country.)

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or...

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.
