I've recently tryed to connect to xboxlive but im havin trouble.

i've been messin with my pc and xbox360 for hours now and i realize what its doing but dont no how to solve the problem. the problem is im using i guess what you would call a gateway connection, im using my verizon broadband modem which i now have connected to my pc with a usb cable and im using the ethernet cable to connect the xbox. this is how its been workin i either get one or the other. if i hook the modem to the pc and get the internet workin on my pc i cant connect to xbox live but if i unplug my pc from the modem then xboxlive will work. does anyone no what to do?

ask verizon if the modem is designed to provide internet through both ports at once.
