  1. No only on a wildlife program shot in scotland many years ago

  2. Never saw one but I have a Ball Python

  3. Yes, here in Northumberland you have to be really carefull when walking on moorland as if they don't see you and get out of your way you could get bitten. Someone I know had their Labrador bitten by one and it became very ill (but did recover)

Edit - why the thumb down? have a look at this if you don't believe me:

Or go out on the moorland roads and see the bodies of the torpid ones that have been run over by cars.

  4. yes! North West Scotland; it was sunbathing on the path through some brackeny/machair/dunes type land close to the beach.  It "legged" it when we got close.

    Yeeeears ago.

  5. I've only seen grass snakes.

  6. No, they are usually not see too often as they are a vemonous predator and have been cleaned out for public safety.  The most common place to see them now is at a zoo or wildlife sanctuary.

  7. good question

i think that adders hang around watery areas and sand dunes

my friend in wales said her friend in her class at school was bitten in the sand dunes

    she nearly died

i have never seen one in the wild

  8. no

  9. i am always seeing slow worms and grass snakes were i live but adders tend to be around places with lots of heather or "in sand pits" iv'e only ever seen one once

  10. I think so. It was a very hot day and the adder, with its V on its head, was squiggling away from me through a field of cut wheat. It looked pissed off.

  11. yes on holiday in scotland by loch ness , my dad went to pick some heather and there it was we got out of its way quick

  12. Yes. It slithered across our garden one summer and we all ran indoors!

My Mum has seen one basking in the sun outside the garden shed, but it quickly disappeared.

    I don't like snakes.

  13. yes in my garden i live by the Norfolk broads and there is a sandy common and a forest within a mile of my home. i see them a lot during mating season when they are sunbathing but at this time they are not so shy and a little aggressive so they don't hide. they are beautiful and my children are aware of them and respect adders. I don't know of anyone who has had an adder bite but I'm guessing it would only be fatal to the very young or old, but for the rest of us i am told would be similar to a wasp sting.

  14. I did when I was a small child. All i remember is that it was much shorter & thicker around then the usual brown snakes in our area(NSW Australia.)

  15. I see slow worms around the allotments. I did see an adder once, but it had been squished by a car.

  16. Yes I have seen an adder near a water area. I was on holiday with school and I walked the long way just so that I did not have to go past the snake. I have a phobia of snakes.
