I've started a writing course, and I need some help with magazines please?

Question

I need to get a concise list of magazines that publish short stories, and what type of stories they are. Can anyone help?

I feel stupid stood in the newsagents flicking through the magazines and it will cost a fortune to buy them all!

subscribe to writersmarket.com if you don't wanna get the book its only $3.99 a month the first month is free.

also if you go to firstwriter.com at the bottom of the page there is  a magazine publishers link, click on that and then you can search for magazines by type of material, and it will tell you if the magazines accepts unsolicited manuscripts and if they pay.  however the name of the magazines is obscured (apart from the first letter) unless you subscribe to site.  some are pretyy easy to guess, others not so much!

Why not buy them?  YOu'll be a rich authopr one day so in the long run you'll be able to afford it.

Go to the bookstore/library and ask for a Writer's Market guide.
