His friends often tell me that he still likes me a lot too. We broke up in a painful manner, jealousy and the sort. After the break, up he had several relationships that didn't last long.

Hopefully you 2 have grown from the experience of being apart and will not allow jealousy to get the upper hand.  If you both still have feelings for each other and are willing to have another go at it things may be different this time.

well my advice- if you already tried once- maybe try again but reality is if its meant to be then it will if not then not.  you will always have feelings- so be careful not to let them take over if its just leftover emotion
