I'm 5'7" 208 and under 16.

I have a family history of obesity and I have tried EVERYTHING to help myself lose weight. I have been eating less, and following a nice diet. I have been working out at a local gym 4 days a week, plus going for an hour walk every day. I've been trying so hard in the past 2 years, but my weight keeps flip-flopping and I don't know what else to do. I can't take diet pills because of my medicine.

Can anybody help me? I'm in desperate need of advice.

  1. keep on following ur diet and working out... i would get into a sport and start exercising!!  Good luck!

  2. Some tips?

1: ALWAYS EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST...I can't emphasize this enough...this does not include a muffin and coffee...this means something along the lines of oatmeal or eggs or cottage cheese...you can't possibly use the excuse that you have no time...it takes roughly 10-15 minutes to prepare a meal, eat it and brush your teeth, get up earlier

2: Cut out ALL cabonated beverages, this includes the diet ones...THEY AREN'T GOOD FOR YOU..they're actually worse than the regular ones

3: if you drink coffee, drink it black

    4: EAT vegetables

5: Eat 5-6 meals a day, eating every 3-4 hours....eating 3 smaller and 3 larger meals...the larger meals being healthy and an example of a smaller one being an apple.

6:Another thing to keep in mind? Eat something after supper...I know idiots say that you shouldn't eat after 7 (or whatever time) buuuut they're idiots...if you dont eat, the body devours the higher energy muscle and leaves the fat...making sure you have that small meal, will keep your metabolism up

7: Exercise 4-5 times a week, this does not mean exercise where you can exercise and talk to a friend/read a book at the same time

Your workouts should last a MAXIMUM of 40 minutes, You should also be pushing yourself, I'm not going to get into exercise as I dont know how much experience you have and I dont want to see you get hurt

  3. I feel your pain darlin'.  The only thing that I have found that helped me loose weight was the Atkins thing.  I went NO carbs for 2 wks and lost about 20lbs.  I was able to eat smart and keep that off for quite a while, but then I reverted back to eating poorly and gained some back.

I'd do it again, but it was the hardest thing I've done to loose weight.  Nothing but bacon and eggs for two weeks, while good tasting, gets a little boring.  Oh, I also worked out during those two weeks too.

YOu an look up the Atkins thing online and follow the first two weeks step and then decide after if you want to continue.

  4. stay on track.

make sure you cut out any junk foods totally, and stick to your plan.

    results will show.

  5. Keeping a food journal really does help.  It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days.  Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer.

Start a weight lifting routine. It will help increase your metabolism and make you feel and look better in so many ways. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Drink plenty of water. You will begin to see changes in your body.

  6. You should try going aerobics 4-5 times a week start off slowly and then you can probably go into high impact moves when you feel ready. Also try pilates and maybe go to the gym 5 times a week? Go for a brisk walk/jog everday for an hour (its better when you do it in the morning because it boosts your metabolism more). Then go for another walk at night maybe for 30 mins. Do a lot of aerobic and cardio moves - ones that make you sweat and keep the heartbeat up.

For eating, Im not sure of your eating plan but you must be doing something wrong. Make sure you have cut out ALL sweets, junk foods & fatty foods. Eat 4-5 meals a day spread out every 2-3 hours. Make sure they are "small" meals because your eating regularly throughout the day. Also dint eat until you are full, eat until you are still a BIT hungry. Make sure you are having 8 cups of water a day, that is very important. Do not eat dinner late at night if you are, make sure its earlier because you dont need a lot of food at night before you go to bed especially. If you do find yourself hungry at night just snack on a bit of fruit or chewy gum!

Also when you do exercise in the morning, you should do it before you eat. Maybe after each meal you have do a bit of cardio exercise (jumping/running on the spot, jumping rope, etc) it could help a bit.

Also try to eat between 1200-1500 calories a day.
