I-48 Based on Marriage in NYC?

Hi,

I am married to a US citizen and I am expecting a letter for an interview. However I am very nervous for many reasons. I was married before and my application was denied for lack of evidence. I was told to appeal or refile, but i divorced my wife for legitimate reasons. Our marriage was real too. I got remarried to a great woman and I am reapplying. We have all the documents (lease, car title, bills, bank account, insurances, pictures...) that they ask for. And once again, it IS NOT A SHAM MARRIAGE. I am nervous about the first case being denied and also I had a minor legal problem: I was arrested but the case was dismissed. I am so worried about the case, it keeps me sleepless.

We sent the package on June 25, got the notices on July 7, and on the 10th, I received the fingerprint appointment letter. Is this the normal time line? some told me it came very early. When should I be expecting my EAD and green card interview? Is my nervousness and anxiety, fear...legitimate?

Thanks.

  1. My husband and i just went throught this...We submitted our application (I-485 package) on February 23, and were called in for the interview on May 29 . His greencard came in the mail on June 12th. Since I am US citizen, it only took 3 months and we are in NYC as well.

Don't be nervous about the legal problems, just as long as you have all the proof that the case was dismissed (letter from the court, etc), you will be fine.  My husband had a DUI on his record, so we just got all the docs from the court showing that he had paid all the fines, and completed all the programs he had to.  If you have any questions, you should call USCIS...or you can go onto there website (www.uscis.gov), get an "info pass", and you can meet with an immegration officer before the interview to ask any  questions you may have.  Trust me its quite helpful becuase i used it several times.

Good Luck, and remember you have nothing to hide...you marriage is ligit, so you have nothing to be nervous about!!!

  2. it depends on your local USCIS office. i got my ead 2 months after my biometrics, 3 weeks later was my interview.

yes, it is normal to be nervous but you have to be confident during your interview.

    good luck!
