  1. no, you can't get an SSN because you're here as a tourist. you need to get a proper visa before you can get an SSN. and there's no way you'll get a visa for a supermarket job.

you need to go back home at the end of your trip. if you want to be able to come back in, do not violate the terms of your visa. which means, DO NOT WORK.

  2. If you want to work in the U.S. you can apply to a company that is enrolled in the H2B guest worker program -- or to a recruitment company that matches foreign workers with U.S. companies.   The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor / Foreign Labor.

H-2B Visa guest workers come to the United States from around the world to live and work, filling jobs when American workers cannot be found.

Most of these jobs are seasonal - typically 5-6 months of the year.  You must return home after the end of your contract each year, and then re-apply for your position (or for a position at another company) if you wish to return the next season.

Because it is the employer who peitions for their workers' visas,  the visa's are non-transferrable.  Meaning you can't come here to work for one company and then decide to change jobs in the middle of the season.  You may only work for the employer who petitioned you, and you can only work for one company at a time.

There is currently a life-time cap of 36 months (3 years) for H2B workers.

Many jobs are in the tourism industry (staffing for resorts and theme parks).   The pay grade usually ranges anywhere from $8.00 - $13.00 per hour, depending on the job and the company doing the hiring.

The guest worker program is NOT a path to permanent immigration.  Visa holders are classified as non-immigrant status, and must prove significant ties to their home country (spouse, children, property)  ensuring they will return to their homland after their contract expires.

  3. no, as a b2 tourist you are only allowed to stay in the US for that purpose, one thing you can do is become a student but thats about it

  4. You are not entitled to a SS card.

Under 8 CFR 214.1(e), a nonimmigrant in the U.S. as a visitor may not engage in any employment.

Your visa was not issued to you so that you could work in the U.S. Your I-94 was not given to you so that you could work in the U.S.

That's why you cannot have a SS card.

  5. nope, u cannot get an SS. sorry.
