MY DR TOLD ME THAT AFTER THAT MY PERIODS MAY BE A LITTLE HEAVIER AND CRAMPING A LITTLE HARDER, HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE?

  1. If you're currently on hormonal birth control, this could be true, because you'll no longer have the artificial hormones lightening and shortening your periods for you (or making them more regular for that matter).

    BTLs (tubals) do nothing to your fertility or to the functionality of your reproductive organs EXCEPT to block the passage of the egg through the fallopian tube.

    There are those who believe that BTL actually causes menstrual problems and increases the risk of certain problems (ovarian cancer for example) but there is NO corroborative data to support these preposterous claims.

    If you're considering a BTL, don't let he  **possibility** of heavier periods stop you.  And if you're already not using hormonal contraceptives, then you should experience no changes at all.

    I'd recommend getting a second opinion from a different doctor though...the first one sounds kinda quacky.
