i am painting my garage door with wood primer so do you think i need to add some thing in the wood primer like water or oil

  1. Read the directions on the primer or paint can.

    Talking to the supplier where the paint was purchased is a great idea.


  2. NO!

    Don't add anything. Your finish coat of paint is only as good as your primer coat. - Use the primer and paint just as it is.

  3. If the primer is oil base then add paint thinner if needed. Use water if it's an acrylic. If the door is wood then oil is better. If it's aluminum no primer is required and is best painted with an acrylic product.

  4. Primer should NOT be thinned. You may consider adding a mildew inhibitor if you're in a wet climate, usually not a problem with exterior applications though.

  5. No, Primer is the best thing for it, are you painting over the primer with color? If so, the let the primer dry for at least 4 hours, then go for it!

  6. An additive is usually only needed for spraying purposes.

  7. u should add a bit of nutella or some homemade c**p!!
