  1. If you do this again wear a safety harness.  Working that high without one is foolish no matter what your  brother says.

  2. Try starting at low heights and going down the ladder. Then keep going higher (I know it's not a heights fear, but it will slowly desensitize your fear).

Just make yourself do it. You must have some subconscious fear holding you back. Once you get yourself to do it a few times that should go away.

  3. I believe your fear is a rational fear and it makes you more alert when you get down from the roof.. so you will take proper precaution.. I believe that will keep you safe. So it's a positive thing and you would only become reckless climbing if you didn't have that fear.. There is nothing wrong with it. Be safe always when climbing and don't rush it. Make sure the scaffolding is secure and the ladder is secure.. your fear is a normal fear that may safe your life one day for having it.

  4. live each day like your last

  5. Take a tab of acid and start singing I believe I can fly, you know it makes sense!

  6. Follow OSHA guidelines for working on a roof. BE SAFE!!! wear a harness and tie off to secure tie off points with a proper length lanyard. and as for the ladder, Always, Always, Always tie off the ladder, make sure it is secured and you can rely on it not moving- Way too many accidents involve ladders and roofs. A good friend of mine who is a contractor is in a coma right now- he fell off a 20' roof... we don't know if there is brain damage or if he will even come out of the coma- be smart and be safe.

  7. Your fear of ladders and climbing is much more common than you may know.  The environment you find yourself in is not one that puts you in a fear of heights, in fact, I imagine that if you stood on the edge of the Grand Canyon near a guardrail you would not be afraid.  Put yourself in the position of standing next to the Grand Canyon without a guardrail and you are uncomfortable maybe even shaky.  Take precautions to go up and down ladders regularly until you do not have the petrifying fear.  If you can, fix some type of temporary handrail or other system you can hold on to.  Once you are more comfortable the fear will diminish, however, don't push yourself to the point of any strong fear.  And don't get in a hurry, or let anyone else push you to hurry.

  8. start off low down and increase working heights gradually , you will get used to it eventually.

  9. Hi

I think your problem is that when you were little something happened to you with a ladder, ie you went up and ladder and someone at the bottom of the ladder shaked it, which made you really scared. Like me, I'm 13 nearly 14, and I can't stand tiny spaces, I didn't know why though. But I thought back really hard, and I remembered that when I was about 6 my so called friend thought it would be funny to lock me in a really tiny shed with loads of stuff in it. She left me in there for about 30 mins. I got hysterical and couldn't stop crying for about an hour (Once she let me out)

So maybe something similer happend to you OR you just dont like ladders! lol

Try to face your fear in slow steps, like go up 10 steps for 3 days and then go up 20 for another 3 days etc

    Hope I helped! Laura x*x
