  1. not much.  movie follows the story line as close as possible


  2. Well, in the book he lives in L.A., not NYC. Also, it's caused by a vampire disease, not by mutations of a cancer vaccine (KV). Robert is more superstitious in the book, using garlic and other things to ward the vampires away. In the end of book, Neville realizes that he is not normal, the vampires are now, therefore, he is a "legend" among this next race of human "vampires." In the movie, he is a "legend" for finding a cure.
