  1. Wow, I agree w/ the last guy.

Try Chicago.  Destination of central sanity, but a taste of the Big Life.

  2. They are probably the two most expensive cities in which to live in the US.

SD has better climate and a neat zoo. I'd worry about earthquakes tho.

NYC is an international city that totally enriches your soul everyday. Don't try to find an apartment there for less that $1k per mo. Parking fees are about $50 per day.

  3. new york is more expensive, but san diego is very expensive too, gas is more expensive in sandiego by about 45¢ no matter how good the economy but new york's real estate is ridiculously expensive, san diego has the best climate in the world the high is about 70ºF year round and the low is 55ºF-65ºF year round,  and it is always sunny, while new york has miserable summers and winters, with heavy snow in winter and 95º F in summer with 80% humidity

san diego is alot less crowded and is so pretty, there isn't bad crime there like los angeles,

if you travel to europe alot it is better to live in new york for flight prices and times(but youd have to deal with terrible airports newark and jfk)  and from san diego its easy to get to asia and australia, and the pacific

new york is one of the most expensive cities in the world(i think it is 32nd on city mayors list   http://www.citymayors.com       groceries are expensive in both cities,   mass transit is better in new york,   traffic is way worse in new york though,   new york is a city of a deciduous vegitation(before it all got cut down and big buildings were built)   and san diego is an desert-ish dry climate,   an hour inland from san diego it is 110 degrees in the summer , (its the ocean that keeps san diego with such a good climate)

good luck,  i would choose san diego,

p.s. san diego isnt on a major fault line like los angeles or san francisco, and even though earthquakes can happen, houses built in the last 10-15 years are very earthquake safe, they have built them to stand up better to earthquakes.

  4. I've never known anyone that moved away from San Diego. I know a lot of people who left New York.  I have visited both and they are both exciting cities.  New York is more real, less phony than San Diego, but you can't beat 70 degrees and sunshine everyday of the year.  Tough choice.  I guess I would prefer New York if I had to make that choice between only those cities.

    Personally I prefer Seattle.
