I Cant Remember The Name Of This Film !!!?

i cant remember the name,Its in black and white its about these people on this japanese ,(that americans own), island during the war. a love story i think. All the people were separated when japanese troops invaded, into men and woman camps and they are trying to meet each other and stay in contact. Theres a bit where the man and lady meet up and there crawling around in the rain cause a troop is walking about, i think the man gets shot.

Its a bit like that old program that's on itv3 sometimes, Tenko.
