I.D. THIS TURTLE!! what kind of turtle is that?

characteristics:

•long claws

•black shell with some white spots on the central and costal area of the carapace

•river turtle

•aggressive

•carapace is 8.5" long x 7.5" width x 2.7" height

  1. Looks like a regular ol' snapping turtle to me.

Wow, this is one of the first turtles that I don't know the species.  I can tell you that it is a male, other than that the shape of the face and eyes make me scratch my head.  I suppose I could search the internet but i like to test my own knowledge.  It definetly is not a snapping turtle.......nor a red eared slider which I'm suprised that no one has said thats what it is.

  3. i really have no idea, but it is definatly not a snapping turtle, red eared slider, yellow belly slider, cooter, map turtle, or a soft shell turtle. It is wild so please do not take it from its natural habitat, they do not make good pets. It is aggressive because it wants to go home in the wild.

  4. I can only guess that he is an old Pseudemys. I can't tell the species except to rule out P. rubriventris. I can certainly be sure that he is not a snapper. You might rule out a couple of other species based on the range.
