I Don't Like My Name!! Which one Do You Like Better?? ?

I Don't Like My Name At ALL!!! My name is Katherine, but people just call me Katie. I would like a cute name like Anna or something, I really like that name. Which name do you like better or can you come up with something else?? Should I Save up money to change your name? and do you have to be 18 or over to change it??

Do you have a middle name?

First, there is really nothing wrong with Katherine or Katie.  I have a niece named Katherine who goes by Katy and she is adorable.  However you are certainly entitled to not like your name.

If you have a middle name you like better, you could use it instead of your first name, but you could also just pick a name you like better and go by it.  If Anna is that name you could adopt it as a nickname and go by it.

The only hitch is that you need to sign your real name on legal documents.  You can change your name when you're younger if you want to, but you should talk that over with your family.

It is also very possible in a few years you will like your name better.  Give it a chance.  It is a nice name and it may feel better in a few years.

hee my name's rachel... dont change your name it's pretty and ellegant. plus can you picture ppl calling you something different after all these years? and i think you do have to be 18, but im not sure but you probably need parent permisson since they are responisble for you. but wow! you have to get 1000 bucks?? thats stupid lol

a) Katherine is an awesome name, and Katie is super cute!  It makes me think of a cheerleader of something.

b) Your parents will be upset if you change it

c) I doubt if it's legal to change your name before age 18 without consent

d) Lexi is a horrid name

I think you have the perfect name for someone who doesn't like it, because you can say it in SO many different forms!

Try going by Kate, Kat, Kathy, Kay, KiKi, Kitty, Teri, Katya (Russian version of your name), Kasia (Polish version of your name), Kata (Hungarian version), Katla (Norwegian), Katarina/Katerini/Katarzina (all Czech versions), Katchen (German), Kolina (Swedish) or Ecaterina (Romanian).

Since Katherine means "pure", you could also go by that, or "Purity".

It's a beautiful and versitile name. Embrace it!!

My ex-girlfriend is named Katherine. I think she said it means "The Pure one" and her first name went well with her middle name. She only responded to "Katherine" and nothing else... until I said her name right.

There are worst names in the world. Honest. Look at mine, "Bunsak." I got made fun off all through grade school with (anything)-Sak. Nutsak, bongsak, cracksak, etc, etc, etc.
