I Dropped My Turtle? For Some Time It Stayed In Its Shell? Now Its Head Is Out A Little?

He(or is it a she?) took his head out of his shell a little, there are no visible cracks are anything, is it dead or hurt?

i think he is just scared... just put him in his home and leave him alone for a while...talk to him say your sorry if he comes out a bit more give him a treat as an i'm sorry

never ever bring home a wild-caught turtle.  look at the damage you have done.  it is now your responsibility to find a vet in your area so you can take the turtle in to be examined. wild-caught turtles do not make good pets.

Unfortunately, without knowing what kind of turtle it is, giving advice is rather difficult.  If it's moving (even a little) it's likely not dead.  If it's an aquatic, put it in a box with a moist towel to see how it reacts.  If it's a land turtle, put him back in his enclosure so he feels safe.  It could be shock or he could be hurt.  

:) It's best to keep him in a safe environment secluded from you and other people for a bit to see if he comes out of his shell.  Avoid putting him directly in water in case he has problems swimming due to injury.

They don't like people much anyways and he really now sees you as a predator and is scared of you. Give him time to learn to trust you..give him some extra lettuce and fish for him to eat to feel better. Sliders are great for decorating ponds or large tanks. I have had two for 36 yrs now plus a 8 yr old and a 5 yr old.
