I EAT spoonfuls of loose leaf tea. Healthy?

So Teavana has this really yummy loose leaf tea called "Azteca Fire" and it says on their website all the little pieces I've been consuming are a "blend of chocolate and strawberries with a spicy twist. Blend consists of crushed cocoa, apple bits, strawberry pieces, chocolate bits, safflower petals, and crushed chili... " I know you're probably not supposed to eat it, but its mildly chocolatey, spicy, fruity, and awesome. Its like a strange trail mix. The whole point in buying tea was having a low calorie something to enjoy, but I don't know if I'm defeating the purpose. You think I'm getting a lot more calories eating it than brewing it as tea? About how many calories would you think are in about 3 tablespoons?

  1. thats sounds pretty tasty actually. there will be more calories eating it whole rather than brewing it but is it mostly tea leaves with those things in it or is it just the apple bits etc. if its mostly tea it should b pretty healthy to eat and in theory u should get more antioxidants. this question is so interesting. im gonna eat some turkish apple tea i have at home. happy tea eating!

  2. I am pretty sure that it won't hurt you, but if you want nutritional info, you are going to have to email them and ask them yourself.  I couldn't find any info on their site.

But thanks for the site, I will bookmark it.
