Okay, so I was in Norway with extended family I never met for a week each at four different houses and I need to write thank you cards to the four families for letting me stay with them and taking me places, but whenever I write them they always come out really terrible. If anyone is halfway decent out there at writing them help would be REALLY appreciated :)

  1. Just write what comes to mind.

    To _______________

Thank you for inviting me into your home and taking the time out to show me around Norway. I had a great time. I really appreciated it, and enjoyed staying.

Job done. Or write something similar. Just sit down with a bit of paper and a pen and just put the things you want to say thank you for.

  2. go to a store and buy the ones with words already on them.

  3. When writing a thank you it's good to personalize it with a positive comment that relates directly to the gift or personal experience shared.

    Dear ________,

I wanted to send you a short letter to thank you for your wonderful hospitality during my visit.  I will forever cherish the memories of the time spent with you.  ...." Mention some sites they showed you or some special foods they introduced you to or cooked for you.  If they showed you some site that is thought to be a 'go to' destination when visiting Norway, mention how you had read articles about the place/event and how much you enjoyed seeing it in person and it was all made more special because you shared it with them.  Be gracious and note some items you feel were noteworthy even if it was enjoying a home-cooked meal and sitting around talking afterward.  You can include things like 'I really enjoyed and appreciate the opportunity to meet you and spend some time to get to know you all.  The afterdinner conversations were something that I ejoyed greatly.  You truly made me feel welcome and included in your life while I visited.'   If you played cards with the family and found that fun then note that.  I am sure there are things that you can note as "special" for each family you visited.  It's that personalization that makes a thank you card special.
