Question:

I Failed the drug test for the Military.....

I started experimenting with Mary J. before I decided to join the USMC. I wanted a job as a MP(Military Police), so I went to Montgomery, Alabama, to take the exams, etc. I passed the AS-VAB with a good score(I'm not dumb at all), and I passed everything else as far as the medical exams except the drug test. I got a letter saying that I failed it and that I am disqualified from being a MP. I was p*ssed! After all, it is my fault for trying the sh*t in the first place. After 30-45 days, I can go back and take the test again, and if(when) I pass it, I'll be sworn in again. My recruiter says that I'll have to choose another job though, and after about two years, I can switch over to the job I really want, which is to be a MP! I've always wanted to be a police officer. I'd like to know if he is really telling me the truth, or is he just saying that to get me in? I trust him, but hey, he still has a job to do! I'm joining the Marines either way; I've really looked into it since I signed up and I know that I don't want to do any other branch, but would just like to know if I will ever qualify for MP. Please be honest. Thank you!

  1. There are certain restrictions for all jobs in the marine corps but they should allow you to become MP even though you failed a drug test, as long as you are clean when you take the test again. Its only certain areas like military intellengence that say you cant experiment wittt some bud more then 5 times in your lifetime

  2. well thats your fault and dont worry MP no offense but they are dumb

i should know i have to go to military bases all the time espically the ones in europe

my father(who is in the military) says he is might or might not be telling you the truth they are looking for people but you might i would go to someone thats in a higher chain of command

  3. You should study longer and harder before you take the next test.

  4. Be careful what the recruiter says. Keep in mind he/she is like a commission used car sales person, and their motto; "lie, cheat, and deny it in the end".

Now wanting to be in law enforcement, and by your own admission, you break those laws? And you expect the military to allow you into the MP's?  This is confusing, because how can you in good conscious enforce a law you don't believe in?

  5. I just have to ask.... you want to be an MP and yet you're doing drugs... that sounds pretty stupid to me. and if you had gotten in, and you do drugs as an MP, they'll make an example of you. they like to do that. I believe that now you are in their system, you'll never be able to be in anything to do with law enforcement. you'll be lucky if you get a clearance. I wouldn't believe the recruiter that says you can get in and then change in 2 years... I would ask them to show you the instruction or regulation that states you will be able to. But I believe you are not going into law enforcement. sorry, should have thought of that before you did drugs.

  6. its your own fault for trying drugs in th first place.......

  7. Honestly man, it's a miracle they are even letting you enlist being you failed a drug test. But I can see you really want to enlist, I hope you can stay clean this time around.

NO, Absolutly not. The Military is not going to waste their time and money sending you to school for one job just to change it a year later.(I say year because Marine Boot camp is already 3 months and some change, throw in additional and your first year was more a less training) If it's a promotion in the area maybe. But see you would have to go back to Additional training to train as a cop. MP's (Called MA's in the Navy) are very hard to come by now a days. I know you want the Marines but I'd reccomend looking elsewhere(Navy,Air Force) if you really want Military police.

If you enlist, pick the job you are sure you want for however long your active contract is.

  8. Hey man, I dont know the exact answer to your question, but be careful!! You don't wanna join based on a lie, and then be miserable until your contract runs out. I live on Fort Benning in GA and I hear all the time about recruiters lying to people just to get them enlisted and signing people who aren't at all up to standards cuz its a hard time to get people to join because of the war and all.

Be careful man and make sure you get your info from a reliable source so ya dont get screwed.

  9. how good of a score???? you may want to do military intelligence. Yes, you can reclass whenever you reenlist but not before then.

  10. when first joining the army, i failed my p**s test and i had to pick a different job.  Certain jobs have certain no nos.  I am sure you can understand why coming up hot and wanting to be a police officer, don't go hand and hand.  depending on the job you pick, you may be able to become an MP, but the job you pick has to let you out of it.  Some jobs you will have to stay in, other jobs you can get out of and reclass.
