I Found a Lost Puppy!?

Question

A Little Cute Black Puppy Thats Lost Was Hanging Around The Back Of My House About 10 Minutes Ago. It Isnt Homeless Because It Has a Collar and Name Tag.

My Dad Tryed To Tie It Up and Have a Look At The Phone Number On Its Name Tag, But It Kept Running Away and Was Really Nervous. It Ran Down The Side Of The House and My Dad Tried To Chase After It, But It Was Gone. :(

Im Worried, Will It Be Ok? And If It Comes Back How Can We Catch It To Get The Phone Number? Or What To Do To Calm It Down?

Peanut butter is an easy way to catch a puppy. You can also whine like a puppy, and some times they come that way.  I would sit on the ground and let the puppy come up to you before you try to grab it.

If you have another dog if it is normal it will come up to sniff your dog, or just put some food out and im sure it will come back!

Set out sone food and water for it...that will make it want to come back.

In the meantime...call your local animal shelter

When it comes back, don't chase it! Just let him come to you. Hold out your hand and wait for him to come and sniff it, then try to gently touch him. If that doesn't work, put a small piece of food like bacon or a biscuit out on your porch and see if he comes back.

Well don't chase it...it will definitely run away...

if you want set a dog treat or something good for the dog to make it come back...if it does come approach it very slowly yet keep a distance and let it come to you...

you should call animal shelters or you can post up signs if it is found. Just make sure the dog is comfortable around you.

well u should try trowing some food and then when he see that you trowed the food put some infront of you and when he gets closer catch him..hope it helps.

maybe its one of those dogs that are smart and their owners let it wonder outside but it knows that the dog will return but if it is lost and comes back try to put some food were he is and then slowly catch him or her

if the puppy comes back get a piece of meat and place on your hand that way it can come to you and you would earn its trust

obviously the puppy is frightened.  do not chase it.  it will run away.  let the puppy come to you.

Never chase a puppy because it doesn't know you and will be frightened. It's as if a complete stranger were to chase you in the woods where you are lost. If the puppy comes back, bring some food in a bowl or in your hands, stay at least a couple of feet away from it, crouch down, and try to persuade it by saying, "come here", in a sweet voice. Wait for it to come to you slowly and eat the food. If you want to see it's tag, distract it with the food and carefully bring the tag to your view.
