Question:

I GOT MY ELECTRICAL STOVE IN THE KITCHEN WE MADE IN THE BASEMENT, HOWEVER IT'S NOT GETTING HOT ENOUGH. HELP..

I used 40 AMP breaker and the cord for the stove....tried to do everything right..but seems something is wrong..I am getitng power and the coils are getting hot...but they are getting hot enogh..

  1. Check the voltage at(before) the oven. if it's 240v than your issue is with the stove and not the power going to the oven.


  2. If it will work but just get warm, then you have incorrect voltage. 120 volts will let it work, but not very well. You need to make sure you have 240 volts and this needs to be on a 50 amp circuit using 10/3 wire.

  3. You need a 2 pole breaker and at least a 6 wire, I suspect the power to your unit is 120 not 240.  The size of the breaker will be determined by size of the stove,  50 amp is usual, some may be 40.  Call a qualified professional electrician.

  4. Check the voltage at the outlet(should be 240) Oh and most stoves use a 50amp breaker and 6 gauge wire.Do not change the breaker for a larger size unless you change the wire to a larger size!!!(fire hazard)

  5. If the coils do not get red in the oven, you sound like you do not have 240v to the range.
