I Got Bit By A Dog Earlier Today! Can I Should I Still Swim?

I'm over at a friends house and her dog bit me at about 10 AM. Ive put plenty of Anti-Biotics and Neosporn and such on it. Its been bleeding most of the day but not too badly. Its not that deep and doesn't hurt that much. I have 2 punctures in my arm from the dog bite and its bruised from the dog jumping on me. However, one of the main reason I came to my friends house is to go swimming in her pool (which is in ground). And I need to know if it is okay to go swimming. I don't want it to get infected. My friends mom says "No" and her dad says "Yes, as long as you put some Anti-biotics on it and wear a bandage." So ya, do you think its probably okay?

  1. I don't think you should, don't take the risk. Don't risk an infection for a moment's fun. You never know what could happen. Better safe than sorry! Maybe the two of you could do something else. And she should get her dog trained. Good luck :]

  2. Yes go for it. The water shouldn't hurt your ouchy, but it sounds like your friend needs to train her dog.

  3. Absolutely not!!

Have you had a tetnus shot? Get one now if you have not. You can get a horrible infection from dog bites and if you go swimming with an open wound like that you are sure to get one. Please go to the hospital now and have a doctor look at it and get a tetnus shot. If you get tetnus you could die. Look it up.

  4. Yes you can still swim water is not going to get your bites infected.

  5. wearing a bandage won't help... if the puncture is bad enough to be bleeding still, you probably should go to the MD to get it checked out. I wouldn't swim until you've seen the MD.

Are you 100% sure the dog has had it's rabies shots and you might want to get a tetanus shot.
