I have another year worth of subscriptions to Norton but I am SO SICK OF IT STEALING MY BANDWIDTH (I detest background updates) and STEALING MY PROCESSOR.

Even Windows just got sick of it and closed it down cos symantec can't cope with Mozilla!

What can I change to that's secure and which WON'T just steal my processor without asking me? Or at least doesn't need ALL of my 1 Gb RAM to function?

  4. Well, now you know! Not only does it grab your resources, it's harder to remove than getting gum out of your hair! You will have to use the Norton Removal Tool. Then get Avast 4 Home. I've used it over 4 years and never had a virus get past it.

  5. yeah same. i have so many problems with norton im getting viruses and norton cant even delete them. anyways try an antivirus called avg for free. if u wanna buy, get kapersky

  6. For your Anti-Virus......(Always use only 1 A-V...You must NEVER use more than one anti-virus, Even an expired anti-virus can cause a major conflict... did I mention that you MUST uninstall your old Norton?)

I would suggest Avast, the newest version 4.8. Avast now includes anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit components. And all for the low low price of free. You can get it here:

Avoid an anti-virus called AVG (free version). It is wildly popular with children and the computer illiterate but has historically had the lowest virus detection rate of all the popular free anti-virus programs.

Norton can be a real pain-in-the-keister to uninstall completely,

you  may need to download and run the Norton Removal Tool from the Norton / Symantec website.

No offense, but anyone who does not let their anti-virus program automatically update is naive.

Expensive (and excellent) anti-virus programs such as Kaspersky are now updating HOURLY! That is how fast new variants of malware are being released on to the internet.  Without updates NO anti-virus can detect these new threats.  Dozens every day.

I would strongly suggest that you reconsider your stance.
