t starts and goes good but it seems that as soon as the carb bowl is empty it wants to die, doesnt but wants to. if i use my primer it gets up and goes like normal and then 2 minutes and it does it again. I used a clear hose for a fuel line and it seems to be flowing good at idle. I have a new tank and primer bulb

  1. Hi you may find that you need  a new fuel pump....  it even with a primer it has a small fuel pump  just before the   carb.....  the primer pushes fuel past this.and fills the bowl.

However also check near the carb that a small  vacuum tube which helps to suck the gas to the carb.

WHat yo need is the  repair manual for the motor too  it will show you where the small fuel pump is and how to replace it...

It may also be that your tank is venting  when it shouldnt .. or may be that  you need to close the vent on the tank when you run the engine.... does it have two fuel lines from the  tank or  just one??

  2. it might not be picking up enough fuel from the tank

  3. Try adjusting the float level in the carbs. When the boat gets up on plane the carbs might be running dry ,Mercury,s older models had to have the floats adjusted seasonally. I am assuming your fuel pump is good !
