  1. First, make sure you have enough gas pressure to the unit. Gas pressure is measured with a manometer. It should have between 10 to 15 psi. Your gas supplier will, if you request it, perform that test for you. However, the most likely cause, from your description is a faulty thermocouple. This is a copper unit that goes from the heater gas valve to the pilot light . The pilot heats the sensor on the thermocouple, which in turn signals the gas valve to remain open, It could be as simple as a matter of adjustment. If the sensor bulb is not far enough into the pilot flame it will cause it to fail. Also, as a precaution, you might want to ask your gas provider to make sure your heater is vented properly. Gas fumes create carbon monoxide, which is oderless and tasteless, and deadly.  Always err on the side of saftey.

    Good Luck

  2. whirlpool w/h have a recall on them right now they will send you a new burner assembly contact them for details in our rentals we are just changing them out going to GE good luck

  3. sounds like the thermocouple, but if it's only 4 months the warranty should cover this............
