I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT MUD PUPPIE??????????

Question

i have a small pond out in my yard the people who use to live here said the pond is normally dry but sence we lived here water has remained in it and now we have mud puppies in there i read they are only found in southern canada and eastern united states i live in oklahoma so why are they in my pond and how did they get there from what i understand they spend most of there lives in water and have gills so they can only stay out of the water for a little wile absorbing oxygen through there skin so how did they get in my pond?????
