I HAVE LOCKED JAW.. help pleaseeee?

Question

my jaw has been locked for over 3 months. I have TMJ and one day it literally just wouldnt open past about and inch. I cannot force it open, ive seen a chiropractor and my orthodontist, nothing has helped.

has anyone had this problem or do you know anyone that has?

im desperate.. i cant eat much of anything besides soft foods.

Hello...Sounds as though your Orthodontist hasn't given you all the information you need regarding TMJ and associated issues....You need to see an Oral Surgeon and get a different kind of dental examination....What you may now need to have checked is whether or not you have an issue with the special tissue that lines the jaw socket...The jaw joint socket is lined with a very special very slick layer of tissue called the "Meniscus".  Sometimes that tissue liner gets torn where it attaches to the edge do the socket and when that happens it has a tendency to , lets call it wad up like when a stocking slips down inside your shoe, that can lock up your jaw and in the process cause a great deal of discomfort. If that is your problem, the Oral Surgeon can restore the function of your jaw joint by surgically reattaching the torn edge of the Meniscus back to the socket bone.  Good luck and I wish you well.

you can get surgery for that... good luck my best wishes for you. my brother has it pretty mildly and you can hear it popping when he eats.

it may be because your stressed, i think i had this happen to me one time, i don't think it was 3 months long but i suppose you could just try and relax, see if you can find a hot tub to chill in for a while

i had this problem for about 2 days.

mine just cracked open one day,

maybe get someone to jilt your mouth so it becomes unlocked?
