I Have Had 2 turtles for a while now. One is a red-eared slider (ive had it since october 07) and a northern common snapping turtle (since last month) and i wanted to know if they are compatable enough to be housed together. they are both approximately 5 1/2 to 6 inches. The red-eared slider is scardish and doesnt do much when im around but the snapper doesnt care when im around but occasionaly tries to bite me when i feed it. i just need to know if there conmpatable.

  1. in my opinion only if the snapper is smaller than the red ear i have 3 dif species living together and they're fine so probably but like i said only if the red ear is bigger

  2. I've kept different varieties of turtles housed together and never had any problems, other than one or another being a bully. But that happened sometimes even between those of the same type. As long as they're well fed and cared for you shouldn't have a problem.

  3. No- snapping turtles are way too aggressive to be kept with other species.

  4. if the snapping turtle is to much bigger than the red ear slider the snapping turtle may try too eat the other .if they are pretty much the same size it is ok. i know this because i have 6 turtles myself 1 is an aligator snapping turtle .the rest are red ear sliders.they are all the same size and i haven't had any problems.hope this helps

  5. I think you sould put them together for a min just to watch how the interact, if anything gets bad take them away from each other.  But i wish i was more help, but i think the only way to really know is to put them together and watch. Good luck! :)
