  1. gloves rarely fall off so that is not really much of a problem

    yes a neckgaurd

well you can either get more protective shoulder pads which come down lower or pants that come up higher.         i have been playing hockey for 8 years and my stomach is completely unprotected but i have never gotton hit with a puck, lucky i guess

  2. 1. No. Some goalies wear gloves but not for protection.

    2. Yes and a lot of leagues have a mandatory rule about wearing one at least until a certain age.

    3. Nothing really to be done about that.

If you go onto most websites you can find starter packages with all the equipment that is needed. I wouldn't buy one though because you can usually get things cheaper individually and it is better. Just use it as a list so you know what to get.

And if your a worried parent... don't worry. Your kid will be fine. You'd be surprised how little the pros wear... even at the high school level they wear the minimal amount that the rules allow and try to get away with less.  not really related to the question but the kids on my high school team actually wore no clothing under their gear to stay cooler. A little strange to me.

  3. 1) if you lose your glove you usually  play without it unless you are in a position to quickly pick it up. But there is no under glove that can protect your hand.

2)They do make neck protectors some leagues require them

    3) Some chest protectors have an extra flap that covers your stomach. Most of the time you just take the shot and get up. The adrenaline is pumping anyway. Chances are you will not feel it until later if at all.

The protective gear is as follows. Shin guards, hockey pants, Elbow pads, should protector gear, Jock/Jill, Helmet and gloves. You can also buy a neck protector as well .

  4. 1. No. That's what the glove is for. More layers there would hurt your ability to feel the stick. Same reason there's no padding on the palms. It's not a concern at all if you have properly fitting gloves.

    2. If you want to. Most players find neck guards uncomfortable and unnecessary.  I would recommend a high necked undershirt if you're concerned. A lot more comfortable and will probalby have as much effect. Unless you're a goalie, in which case you should wear one.

    3. A lot of shoulder pads these days have removable pads that cover your stomach. Some (myself included) prefer shoulder pads without though. Makes it easier to move. If you get hit there (As I have)  It hurts, but not badly enough that you have to stop playing. (when the Guy who's elbow wound up there stays on top of you, it can be rather annoying though)

Other stuff shoudl be obvious just from going o a pro shop. Basics are skates, knee pads, pants, sholder pads, elbow pads, gloves and helmet.

  5. 1. no

    2.  yes

    3.  OUCH

  6. 1. No, just the hockey glove. Wearing another glove would be pointless since it is rare to lose your hockey glove and it would interfere with the "touch" needed to play well.

    2. Yes, but it's optional. Usually only goalies or players who are recovering from an injury wear any kind of neck protection.

    3. It hurts! There really isn't much protection there since you need to have good mobility in your torso.

  7. 1. If your glove comes off, there's nothing there, unless you put stuff there before the game.

    2. I believe there is a neck guard that they make you wear up until a certain age.

    3. Well that just hurts.

  8. 1. Nope, they go bare-handed.

    2. Yeah, there's a guard for the neck, but it's primarily for sticks and skates to the area, kind of like Zednik's injury. It's made out of kevlar.

    3. The pants have padding that should protect the internal organs. I say "should" because there are some pretty hard slapshots in the NHL. But if you play recreationally against a bunch of working class shmucks, I wouldn't worry too much about that.

  9. 1) Nope. Not That I've Heard Of... Just let it slip and then just keep playing the game.. Trust me its alot of fun

    2) You could Use A Neck Visor.. I think one of the Guys from Detroit Used One (Dan Clearly)

    3) If It Hits Your Stomach You Might Get An Ache ;)

  10. 1. no, and it doesnt happen often, so dont worry. i think its happened to me maybe once over 8 years.

    2. yeah, a neck guard. most people dont wear them (i dont, they are very irritating) some leagues enforce them, most dont.

    3. then it hits your stomach. not much u can do. some shoulder pads have the stomach protecter, mine do, but it really doesnt do much. if you get hit, then you get hit. suck it up.
