I've read the Menieres Society accounts of the disease and also other accounts of the disease on the internet.

How can I be of help to a loved one that has just been diagnosed with a mild form of the disease, which I have read, is progressive.

They fly home every weekend, have a stressful job, have to drive. and are in the age group 55-60

Please don't give me site links - I've read them. Thanks

  1. Some people really do suffer when they have this illness, and it effects everyone concerned. Just be there for them, some days they will have good days, some days they will have bad days, it's important to remember they are not the illness and just provide support, love and reassurance. Relaxation exercise/activities can help.

I know you said no links to sites, but this really is a great site, developed by a Nurse I believe who was looking after her husband

  2. Firstly, whilst it may have been said that Meniere's is progressive, medication such as stemetil or serc can help!

I had a touch of this years ago, but have since been diagnosed as type 2 diabetic - it could have been diabetes all along.

It is also possible that attacks are stress-induced.

Relaxation and good diet plus moderate exercise would seem to be the key!
