  1. Those are the Taylormade Launch Control cartridges.  They are preset, permanent and unmovable.

The type N is designed for a neutral ball flight and is very forgiving on mishits.

The type D is configured for a draw-type ball flight.

  2. On this club, the weights are for cosmetics purposes only.  They do nothing and you can't move them.

  3. They are weights, you put them in different areas (if you have a wrench) to produce desired shot shapes (fades/draws/low/high/) It should show you how to do it if you got a manual or instructions on how to use it with the driver. If you didn't you could always buy them on ebay, or from a local golf shop. Have fun with your experiment.

  4. Do not move these, you'll ruin your club. They are purely cosmetic (as someone else said). They are only there to show you that the club in does not have a fade or draw bias (a la neutral). You should be able to read the weight on the "fake" screws. During the R5 days only the 425 had the MWT (moveable weight technology).

If you compare your R5 N with a R5 D you can see the difference in weighting by reading these screws...that's it.

  5. They're adjustable weights to get the kind of ball flight and direction you want.

  6. The clubhead uses what the company calls the TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC) system. The sole of the club has four holes (TLC ports) into which you can insert -- or take out -- plugs (TLC cartridges).

The clever bit is that you can shift weight around the clubhead by choosing and using different weight cartridges in different ports. So essentially you can move the center of gravity from heel to toe or from front to back.

This changes the the way the r7 quad performs, giving more or less of a launch angle, for example. So you can modify the club to fit your particular preferences.
