I Just started the LAPD academy. How do I get a good shine on my shoes?

The best shine comes from kiwi shoe polish combined with mop-n-glo. Thats what we used in the Marines for inspection. Or just little circles with water and kiwi. Keep doing the little circles. Add water add polish. You really want to build it up on the surface. Then when you're done, walk like a mummy everywhere you go.

cotton baby diapers (new) to polish work best. I light the polish for a few seconds. Keep polishing.......

Hey Bro .. Just get a second pair and have them shined somewhere else . it will save time.. and time is money .. and you should worry about academics, not boot maintanance.
