I.K. Kim can end her victory drought at Kingsmill Championship
After getting off to a lacklustre start in the 2012 season, South Korean I.K. Kim is hoping to make a solid comeback when she kicks off her first round at the Kingsmill Championship at Williamsburg, Virginia, from September 6-9, 2012.
Kim racked up the first Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) title of her career when she outperformed rivals at the Longs Drugs Challenge in October 2008. Her game looked great as she inflicted a three-stroke defeat on American Angela Stanford.
The South Korean star followed that with another amazing triumph at the LPGA State Farm Classic in June 2009. The victory earned Kim a great reputation as she outrivaled fellow South Korean Se Ri Pak by one stroke.
After her last victory at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in November 2010, Kim lost her momentum and failed to show her trademark aggressive game.
She took part in several events after the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, but the LPGA titan was not able to regain her lost form.
In most of the recent tournaments, Kim displayed the same shaky performance and missed out on plenty of good opportunities to make a comeback.
However, the Kraft Nabisco Championship 2012 proved lucky for her as she reached playoff and lost to South Korean Sun Young Yoo.
This week at the Williamsburg, the LPGA star expects to turn the tables in her favour as she plans to card a massive score on the leaderboard.
Commentators said that Kim might have got off to a poor start in the 2012 season, she still has what it takes to rattle rivals and she is going to make the most of this opportunity because she is aware of the mounting pressure from new faces like Lydia Ko and Lexi Thompson.
American Kristy McPherson, who is more than happy to have found a spot at the Kingsmill Championship, said while speaking to the media that she is very confident to make a good start at Williamsburg.
She said that the Kingsmill Championship is players’ one of most favourite events as the course and field are pretty tough.
“We like adding all events, but getting Kingsmill back on the schedule is awesome," McPherson  said.
