Cops are rarely bound to tell the truth.  If you don't like that (and why should any of us like that cops lie), I suggest you contact elected government officials and ask that strict laws be passed preventing cops from lying.

I KNOW that most cops are on a power trip and the few truly good ones are at mercy of the less savvy officers.

I KNOW that I use a digital recorder to capture all lies that defendants tell me. I don't need to lie to defendants, they s***w themselves up with their own stories.

The bonus of recording all conversation is that I all rights given are also recorded, and any vexatious complaints are circumvented

I KNOW there is nothing that says they are not allowed to lie to a suspect.
