I was in western riding lessons so I know how to ride western. But Im going to a place soon with trails and places and stuff where you can ride, but its only english there, so does that mean I can go up there and get on a horse and have no trouble riding it.

And I dont hold my reins in one hand :)

  1. well you should learn to ride with one hand cause it not like you are driving a wagon but yeah you should be ok

  2. No, the riding styles of different.  You can probably ride but the horse may not know what your body is saying.  You won't have the saddle horn and you need to know how to use your leg muscles to post and signal the horse (along with rein control).  Tell the people at the trail place that you have ridden western style but never english so they know and can match you to an appropriate horse, maybe even give you some basic lessons on what you need to know.  Your legs may get very tired since you haven't developed the muscles needed to do English riding.

  3. well posting is diffrent it took me a long long long time to be able to post i still not really good at it its kinda diffrent

  4. In english riding you rely on the reins more than anything else. I dont expect you to have any trouble with it if your an already experianced rider.

  5. accualy if all you have done is rode western... english riding is rly kida diffrent... you ride with two reins... you use alot of leg... you saddle is diffrent less secure.. and when you trot you post... as for western you sit to the jog... the english trot is a bit faster and you rly relise on your seat legs and reins for stering... western horses are very leg motivated... good luck... i still think you will need to get used to the seat diffrent.
