  1. why don't you have art stuff and you have jordin pruitt that would be so cool

  2. This is what I did for my fiance's teen when she turned 16.

I had two separate parties for her in this manner.

1st party was for family members.

I rented a big white tent, cocktail tables, fine table linens, eating utensils and crystal glass.  I set everything up in the back yard and decorated elegantly.  Had everything catered and served it buffet style.  Ran speaker wire outdoors and installed two speakers and installed clear white christmas lights through out the tent.  Also got an ice sculpture of a dolphin because that is what she liked.  It was very glamorous.

The second party was the following week.

I told her she can invite 3 of her best friends for a weekend in New York City.  I rented a limo for the 3 teens and her, and rented a car for my fiance and I.

I booked a dinner cruise and made sure the girls had their own table.  After dinner and dancing and a cruise around the statue of Liberty, the limo took the girls to the Marriot Marques.  I rented then a suite with a joined room for us.

The next day after breakfast, took the girls everywhere in NYC and had lunch at the Tavern on the Green, dinner at Planet Holywood and a  horse and carriage ride through Central Park.

Yes, the entire experience (both parties) were expensiveve, but we left her with great memories and pictures.

  3. here's a new idea:

don't expect your parents to throw some lavish party because you're turning 16!!!

you could be totally unique and have a small, laid-back party with friends and family and ask them to donate to a cause/charity of your choice in your name instead of giving you gifts

  4. Why not treat it like a kiddie party.  I did that for my husband's 30th birthday and it was a lot of fun.  I got a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, a climbing wall, a clown, some carnival games (that I bought at a toy store) and a DJ.  I did the party at 5:00, so people played on the toys until the sun went down, then they danced for the rest of the night with the DJ.  It wasn't a dressy party, but everyone had a great time.  (and that's what's important)

  5. You know how everybody wants a celebrity at their party

Why don't you have everyone dress like their favorite singer actor or whatever
