I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!! My final fantasy vii disc 2 is not compatible with my disc 1!!!!!!!!!?

Question

When i completed disc 1 i saved then they asked me to insert disc 2 but when i do,nothing happens the screen just turns black(the tv isn't off)and stays like that.Also when i insert the disc 2 into the ps1 without continuing with my disc 1,the load sign is in japanese and the 'New Game' sign is 'NEW GAME'. PLEASE HELP!!! i want to continue ASAP. ITS SO ADDICTIVE I SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON IT!!!

Well all I can think of is that if you bought the game off line, and it was used (new ones will kill your bank) then the seller may have switched the disc out so the second one was the japanese version of the game. I do not see why it would not be compatible, but there is obviously a flaw with the second disc if it will not play.  I have played the game many a time and have saved at that spot without any problems.  Have you tried wiping the disc with a soft cloth to avoid scratches but to get off any c**p taht may be on the disc?
