I NEED HELP WITH AIMING in volleyball. PLEASE! I'm DESPARATE!?

Well, I am setter on my volleyball team for school and I have a decent volley, but it never seems to go where I want it to. I really need tips on how to improve my aim! I am desparate. Our first game is soon, and I want to play well.

  1. Lots of very good points above this.

    I would like to add a trick that I used to use when I set.  I pick out a spot in the ceiling in the warmups.  That would be my target.  It is hard to set high outside without a target.  And if you have to move, it is even tougher.  If you can be looking up at the ceiling and the ball at the same time, you will be able to aim better at your target.

  4. Be patient, and be confident. You need good form, consistent movement during practice... and you need practice, practice, and practice.

    Usually it takes some warm up to get you into game mode before each game.

  5. You need to square up your body with whatever your setting to. If you're doing a side-set, square up your side wjth whom you're setting.

  6. Move you body with your hands where you want to go. Like with bumping to get it to go to the side you need to move so the side and then hit it.

I am the varsity setter for my team hope I can help!First off your feet have got to be there first for you to have even a decent set..and you need to have soft hands...make your hands into the diamond shape above your head and when the ball touches your hands which should still be above your head until contact extend all the way through aiming is simply where your hands end and how much leg you put into it and getting the ball at the right heighth changes with every hitter thats your job to figure out where they need it..as my coach always says !touches! you just have to practice it is all muscle memory!

    maybe you need to square your shoulders with your target.

    if you can align your shoulders to the target, it will improve you.

  9. MY COACH FOR SCHOOL IS THOUGHT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST COACHES IN THE COUNTRY. HE TELLS US TO GET OUR FEET TO THE BALL FIRST. ONCE UR FEET ARE THERE AND U ARE BALANCED MAKE A TRIANGLE WITH YOUR FINGERS flex ur wrists back so that ur thumbs are pointing towards ur head and then extend ur elbows so that u stil have triangle shape but it is out in front of you wiht your elbows at an angle above your head

    PINT YOUR TOES TO YOUR TARGET AND CONCENTRATE

  10. square your sholders and hips to the exact point where you want the ball point your right foot at you target also!!! GOOD LUCH ON UR 1st GAME!!!

  11. i am a setter to and what my coach said is place your palms and hips to where you want the ball to go and use your legs

    it wont go perfect every time but mostly it will

  12. hey im a setter too what i use is a laundry basket. i have one of my friends hold it and once i make it 5 times then move the basket and do this again

  13. HINT- Where the tip if your thumbs arepointing to is where the volley ball is going to go. Or what your belly button is pointing at.
