Im trying to calculate what my tax to date would be based on the following:

Monthly wage before tax £1875.00 (after £1451.66)

Tax code 522L

I was given the following link to try:

http://www.listentotaxman.com

I need to know what figures to use for the month of March and the month of April ( bearing in mind the tax year starts in April)

Ive used the following figures:

March Pay Slip 07/08

Gross Pay £22,500.00

Total taxable £17,280.00

Tax paid £3,456.00

NI £1,874.40

April Payslip 08/09

Gross Pay £22,500.00

Total taxable £17,280.00

Tax paid £3,534.00

NI £1,903.00

What i need someone to do is to check that ive got the right figures i.e are these the figures that would have appeared on my March / April payslips.

I dont have my payslips and i dont work for the company anymore and they wont give me replacements so im just wanting some help to confirm if thats how my taxt to year would have been. Have i done it right

  1. The April one is for one month only. You have shown totals for the year. The site quoted shows annual, monthly, and weekly automatically. Also your code number should have been budget uprated to 543L. Payslip should show gross pay £1875, free pay £452.92, taxable pay £1422.08, tax £284.42, NIC £156.20, net received £1434.78.

You say you have left job. You should have form P45, which will supersede payslip.

For last year, you should have form P60. Once you have this, payslips aren't really important, as they are not legal documents, whereas forms P60 and P45 are.

  2. The March payslip on a cumulative basis would be correct, but the April one would only show one month's pay. ie £1875.
