I am currently 19years of age and a full time college student.

I am not working but I need to find affordable health coverage. My insurance ran out as soon as i turned 19 and what i paid before was about 10 dollars a month because i was a orphan or something like that of the state. what should i do? even if i get a job now i cannot afford to pay 200 dollars and upwards a month.

  1. Well, that's what it costs.  So I'd see what kind of health plan is offered at your college.

  2. down in texas there are insurances that are 40 to more or less and you can use them its hmo's but they are ok. you just have to find the right doctors take care.

  3. Join the ARMY you'll love it.

  4. You need to go to the department of human services in your area and get a rerreral from a social worker for any benefits that might be available for someone in your situation.

  5. Check with your local state, many offer help for low income single. You might be suprised.

  6. If you are generally healthy, and want something in place for "just in case", I would suggest a healthcare discount program. It offers upwards 50% off out of pocket costs at a physician's office as well as ancillary services (lab work and such), a hospital advocacy program (for emergency services) and a 24 hour nurseline for health questions. Plans start at $29.95 month and covers anyone at your address, works great if roomates need coverage as well that way you can split the costs! You can check it out at www.mybenefitsplus.com/trhonda2000, you can also request more information from the site.

    Hope this helps,

    Trhonda
