I Need Help With Microsoft Word For Windows Vista?

okay everytime i open up microsoft word i try to insert word art into it i can't beacuse evrytime i click on the button nothing happens the same thing for when i try to save something copy or print the whole program is like frozen or something you can see the buttons but nothing happens when you click on the tabs and i need help please someone help me
