I want to make a cliche teen drama for my film class

I mean i want to make the most mediocre 15 minute movie possible

with issues like

Teen Pregnancy

Drugs/Alcohol

Divorce

Date Rape

Infidelity

Not fitting in

Racism

and closeted homosexuals

however just having these ideas doesnt help me with a story so thats where i need help

i want to see how everyone in my class reacts

and if they'll actually think its good and over analyze it

praising me for how artistic i am

or if they'll hide their dissatisfaction with the film and try to be nice

  1. SCRIPT:

First, I'd make sure to use as many cliches as possible, especially those that turn teens off. i.e. - for drugs maybe use "just say no" ... and have the pregnant teen say it.

Secondly, in the spirit of the above quote, use very dry satire. Think movies like Rushmore.

Third, keep the dialogue far from in depth. Make it deep as a mud puddle. Single syllable words as much as possible.

    ACTORS/DIRECTION

Monotone, monotone, monotone. Make it as boring as possible. Tell the actors no inflection. No emotions. If there are emotional responses, have them be unwarrented and out of place without being too obvious as to what you're doing.

Camera shots would be great to use to make your point subtly. Plain, closeups work well for boring. Don't pan back or forward. Shoot lots of backs of heads.

Wardrobe could be unrealistic. I don't mean skin tight clothes on the pregnant girl, but overly large clothes. Make her ashamed in appearance and action, but with bold words. Point out hypocrasy whenever possible.

Anyway, just some ideas. Good luck. Bore 'em dead.

  2. go to hillsborough senior high, tampa, fl... and you'll find all you need and much much more

Trust me, i know. I went there. And there's a lot of places to hide, especially up in the abandoned 4th floor of the main building.
