Question:

I Need Helping Hooking Stereo/Surround Sound to Television?

I just got a Stereo system i can hook up to my TV and basically use it as surround sound. My TV has no audio outputs on it though, only inputs. I don't have the money to by a new TV or buy a cable box or TV or tuner or whatever. My friend told me I could do this by plugging a Y-Cable cable into the input and then use some cord to then connect that to my stereo. I E-Mailed customer support about my problem and they said there was nothing I could do, but my friend says they don't know what they are talking about. I would trust him and get a Y-Cable but the way he explained it to me made no sense at all.

  1. You will need at least a VCR or DVD player in order to accomplish this.

They might make some kind of adaptor for doing it, but all you need is RCA audio outputs on some piece of equipment that you can run the cable connection through (plus movies will go through the stereo as well).

  2. Sounds like the stereo/dvd unit is perfect!!!  Just match the output jacks on the stereo to the inputs on the tv and you'll be set.

The truth is, you'll only need the video out to the tv if you use the stereo for sound all the time.

  3. You need what they call an RF converter to hook up to your TV. that will allow you to plug in you home theater or surround sound

    system.

  4. It's next to impossible for you to do it.....

Listen, you HAVE a combo DVD/Stereo player...

    .

IF you have on the back of that DVD unit one set of Aux INPUTS, then you can buy a VCR and use that to recieve your TV stations using the Tuner that's built inside the VCR....

But if you don't have a set of AUX inputs on the back of the DVD/Amp, then you're Dead in the Water.....

And if you're not Dead in the Water, THEN you have to find a VCR with Stereo outputs on the BACK of it.....

Finding a VCR.....most likely you won't find that at a store.....

Most likely you have to go to garage sales.....
