  1. not alot, reserves will do a 1 to 2 week deployment, then return home for another 9 -12 months

  2. I was initially in the Navy Reserves - I was what they call an active mariner (3 yr enlistment active duty and 3 years active reserve - this was before they went to 8 year contracts). All the reserves play a vital part in the security of our nation.

In the reserve you will attend the training that you are assigned to initially, then you will complete your one w/end a month and two weeks of active duty every year. Should you fail to complete this obligation you may be called to active duty to complete your enlistment. For each year on active duty is equal to 2 in the reserves.

The reserves is what you make of it - just like if you went active duty.

For further information contact a recruiter - he /she is ALWAYS your best source of information.  Hope this helps.

ALL MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY INCLUDING THE RESERVES and NATIONAL GUARD WORK VERY HARD.

  3. First, it's A LOT, not ALOT.  Two words, not one. (You wouldn't write "alittle", would you? ;) )

As for finding info, your best source would be the Naval Reserve website. They answer A LOT of questions here: http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/navres/home... or you can call them at 1-800-856-8488.

  4. If you want "a lot" of information then I suggest you get in contact with a local recruiter who can answer any questions you have and will give you a better idea of what people who serve with the Navy Reserves do. http://www.navy.com/ has a link at the top of the page where you can request to receive more information on the Navy. There is also a link to "Find a Recruiter". You type in your zip code and it will give you the address of the recruiting office closest to you.

As far as some basics... Reservists can be trained in just about any MOS. They work one weekend a month and two weeks a year. They are paid for the time they spend in uniform (1 wknd a month/2 wks a yr). They can be activated and deployed if need be.

  5. then find a Navy Reserve Recruiter  and ask them.
