I am pregnant, and the babies father doesn't want anything to do with the child, I'm not going after him for child support or anything. I have recently become engaged, and am planning on marrying my fiance a few months after the baby is born. He wants to legally adopt my son, so it will be His and My child, instead of my ex being involved at all. Can I do this, Without having to go through my babies father for anything, because my goal is to NEVER speak to him again. Please Help Me!

  1. No, sorry.  You need to ignore the first answer, because your ex already knows you're pregnant.  He knows this is his baby.

You can get an attorney to handle the adoption.  Your ex has to agree to sign away all his parental rights.  I have no idea if you would have to see him or talk to him to get that accomplished.  But if you have to see him once more, wouldn't it be worth spending half an hour in his presence if it means that he signs the agreement so that your new guy can adopt the baby?

Putting your new guy's name on the birth certificate won't mean a thing if your ex decides to get nasty.

Now get a lawyer and stop worrying about it.  You have more important things going on in your life than worrying about a crappy ex.

  2. I don't recommend your fiance legally adopt your child.  It can get messy if you two were to ever split up.  Plus, why put your kid through that since he/she is already confused about his/her father?

You can just put his name on the birth certificate and no one would be the wiser, although you shouldn't.

  3. put your fiance's name on the birth certificate when the baby is born and you should be cleared.
